Coarse or fine ground coffee
What grind do you need? You need a finer grind if your coffee machine makes a cup of coffee very quickly. Think of an espresso machine that can make a cup of coffee in a few seconds. Because the coffee is finely ground, more flavour is released faster in the water dripping through the ground coffee. So if you have a filter or Chemex where the coffee drips slowly through the coffee filter, you need a coarser grind. The finer the grind, the more flavour the ground coffee will impart. If you use finely ground coffee for a slower brewing method, the coffee will taste very bitter. If you do this the other way round. So using a coarse grind for a fast brewing method, the coffee will taste a bit more sour.
Coarsely ground coffee
We find that coarse ground coffee is the most popular coffee. A coarse grind is suitable for slower brewing methods. In general, most Dutch people have a filter machine with normal filters. To influence the taste of your cup of coffee in a very positive way, it is best to grind coffee beans just before brewing. The "freshness" of the coffee is quickly lost in a ground version. To solve this problem completely, you need to use coffee beans and a good coffee grinder. For those who think a private coffee grinder is excessive, Café du jour gives the choice of choosing your own grind with some brands of ground coffee. Take ground coffee from Caffè Miglior, for example, and simply choose the variant suitable for your particular coffee machine.
