Details

Traditionally Roasted for Authentic, Superior Quality

Café du Jour fresh coffee is traditionally roasted and tested in small batches. It's crafted in a small, authentic roastery where the beans are roasted in a barrel over a gas flame. Once roasted, the beans are allowed to rest for just a few hours, up to a day, while we assess their flavour. Only when everything is just right are the beans packed in a container designed to let residual gases escape, while keeping air out. The roasting date is always fresh, within four weeks, and it's clearly printed on the front of the coffee bag.

Resealable Coffee Packaging

Whether you're buying 250g, 500g, or a kilo of Café du Jour coffee beans, they always come in specially resealable packaging. Each coffee bag features a resealable rim, ensuring you can keep the coffee airtight after opening. On the front of each bag is a valve that lets gases escape without allowing outside air back in. This way, we make sure your coffee stays as fresh as possible!

FAQ
Customer Questions
What is the roast date?
The roast date of Café du Jour's coffee beans is usually a maximum of four weeks before dispatch. This means that the coffee beans are generally no older than four weeks when they arrive at your door. Many people ask if coffee beans are already too old after three weeks. The answer to that is: no. Freshly roasted coffee actually reaches its best flavour after a few weeks. During roasting, carbon dioxide (CO₂) is created inside the coffee beans, which can mask the taste at first. That is why coffee is at its best between one and four weeks after roasting. After roasting, the beans are immediately packed in special coffee bags with a one-way valve. This valve allows CO₂ to escape without letting oxygen in, so the aromas are preserved and the coffee remains fresh. This way, you can count on an optimally fresh product with a full flavour!
For which brewing method are these beans suitable?
Our Coffee of the Month is suitable for various brewing methods, such as espresso, cappuccino, filter, and manual brewing techniques. Reviews show, for example, that customers enjoy using these beans for espresso, cappuccino, and hand-brewed coffee.
How fresh are the Coffee of the Month coffee beans upon delivery?
We guarantee that the Coffee of the Month is always extremely fresh: the beans are artisanally roasted in small batches and delivered no more than four weeks after the roasting date. You will always find the exact roasting date on the packaging.
Can the flavour or intensity of the Coffee of the Month vary each month?
Yes, every month we select a different type of coffee, which means the flavour profile and intensity may vary. For example, one month you might expect a bold El Salvador, and another month a smooth Colombia or Tanzania with a full flavour and light acidity.
Which flavour or type of coffee beans will I receive with the Coffee of the Month?
The Coffee of the Month is always a surprise: every month we select a different fresh coffee, with the country of origin, flavour profile and type of beans varying. On the packaging of your bag you will find detailed information about the origin and flavour of the beans you receive that month.
What should I do if the packaging of the Coffee of the Month is swollen?
Our packaging features a special valve to guarantee freshness; a slightly swollen bag can occur due to freshly roasted beans that are still releasing gases. This is normal and helps to keep the coffee fresh. If the packaging is extremely inflated or has an unusual smell, please feel free to contact us for advice.
