Raja Gayo Speciality 100% arabica - Fresh coffee beans
A little spicy (like many Indonesian coffees), light hints of cocoa, tangy with a sourness.
Café du Jour Indonesia (Mandheling) Sumatra Raja Gayo coffee is grown very carefully in the central part of Aceh province on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia at an altitude of 1100 to 1600 metres.
The coffee is medium roasted. We like it as (slow) coffee from the chemex, cafetiere or quick filter. As an espresso it can be a bit spicy and the acidity comes to the fore.
Café du Jour Indonesia (Mandheling) Sumatra Raja Gayo coffee is grown very carefully in the central part of Aceh province on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia at an altitude of 1100 to 1600 metres. The coffee there is grown by several small farmers with about a hectare of land each, good for about 700 - 1000 kg of coffee a year. The average temperature of 20 degrees all year round, the abundant rainfall and the fertile soil make this area a walhalla for agriculture. Coffee cultivation is the main source of income. The area also grows tobacco, sugar cane, tea, cloves, vegetables, fruits and bean crops.
For this coffee, only the red, ripe coffee berries are hand-picked for the best quality, flavour and aroma. After picking, the berries are immediately pulped (stripped of the red skin) and spread out to dry. After drying, the coffee is taken to one of the cooperatives where it is further processed and prepared for export.
Café du jour Coffee beans
Café du Jour's own-brand coffee beans are roasted on a small scale by a specialist roaster. The beans are roasted and stocked weekly, so the roasting date is always recent. The roast date is therefore noted on the packaging label.
Resealable coffee packaging
Whether you buy 250g, 500g or a kilo Café du Jour coffee beans: they always come in a special resealable packaging. The coffee bag has a special resealable rim so you can always re-pack the coffee airtight. On the front of each bag is a valve, this allows gases and air to escape from the bag without allowing air from outside to flow back into the bag. This way, we do everything possible to preserve the optimal freshness of your coffee!
