Julius Meinl Jubiläum is roasted according to the classic Viennese method and has a medium roast. You taste a fresh coffee with lively citrus notes and a fine floral finish, with a gentle sweetness and a vibrant acidity. We put the intensity at 6, classed by us as regular: not heavy and dark, but certainly not thin either. If you find it too sour, it helps to grind a little finer, use a slightly higher dose or set the water hotter.

Let the Mizudashi steep in the fridge for 8 to 12 hours for a mild cold brew. If you want more body and a fuller flavour, you can go up to 24 hours. Set the pot up in the evening and you will have fresh cold brew the next morning.

Take the filter with the coffee grounds out as soon as the coffee is ready, otherwise it keeps on steeping. In a clean, well sealed pot your cold brew keeps for up to two weeks in the fridge, although it is at its freshest in the first week.

Mixing works fine, as long as you choose two coffees with the same roast level. The roast determines your grind size and the flow time: if you mix dark with light, one bean is ground too fine and the other too coarse and you get bitter and sour in the same cup. So look at the colour of the beans and combine the Decaffeinato with the roast that comes closest to it, with Classico being lighter and Intenso darker. Start with half and half and then adjust your grind size to taste.

If you use a machine that works with ground coffee, you need a coffee grinder and you grind to espresso grind. Espresso grind and filter grind are not interchangeable, so check which grind your machine needs.

Senseo Strong is made from dark roasted Arabica and Robusta beans, which gives a rich, powerful cup with a nice layer of crema. The robusta in the blend provides body and crema, but also brings a spicy and slightly bitter touch. If you find that too strong, the milder Senseo varieties are a better choice.

Use 1 tea bag per cup and water at 100 degrees, so freshly boiled. Let the bag steep for 3 to 5 minutes: shorter gives a lighter cup, longer makes it fuller. The tea tastes excellent on its own, but it also takes a dash of milk or a spoonful of honey.
