What is a Chemex coffee maker?
A Chemex is an hourglass-shaped glass carafe for pour-over coffee, with a wooden collar around its waist. You place a thick folded paper filter in the top, add medium-coarse ground coffee and pour hot water over it by hand. The heavy paper holds back most of the oils and fine particles, which gives Chemex coffee its clean, light-bodied taste.
What grind size should I use for an AeroPress?
Use a fine to medium-fine grind for an AeroPress, somewhere between espresso and drip filter coffee. The AeroPress is flexible: grind a little finer and steep for a shorter time, or a little coarser and steep longer. What does not work well is espresso-fine coffee, which makes pressing heavy and the cup bitter, or French-press-coarse coffee, which tastes weak after two minutes.
How much coffee do you use in an AeroPress?
Use about 15 g of ground coffee for one AeroPress brew, which makes a single cup. Let it steep for 1 to 2 minutes and press slowly, taking around 30 seconds. The result is fairly concentrated, so you can drink it as it is or dilute it with hot water to taste. A 250 g bag is enough for roughly 16 brews.
What is the difference between AeroPress and V60?
The AeroPress steeps the coffee and then presses it through paper, while a V60 is a cone in which water flows through the coffee by gravity alone. The AeroPress is quick, compact and consistent, which makes it popular for travel. The V60 takes more pouring technique but gives a lighter, very clear cup. Yes. These beans have a medium roast and are listed in our product data as suitable for the bean-to-cup machine and the semi-automatic machine. With bean-to-cup machines, most problems are caused by very dark roasted, oily beans that clog up the grinder, and a medium roast like this one actually stays drier. Run your machine's cleaning programmes regularly and clean the bean hopper now and then.
Is L'OR Riche Espresso really 100% arabica?
Yes. According to the product information from manufacturer Jacobs Douwe Egberts, L'OR Riche Espresso is a 100% arabica coffee, and that is how it is supplied to us. The claim is not printed prominently on the packaging itself, which is why customers sometimes doubt it. Following such a question we checked with the manufacturer and the 100% arabica specification was confirmed.
