You receive whole coffee beans in a 1 kilo bag. There is no ground version in this packaging. If you want to make filter coffee or espresso, grind the beans yourself to the grind size that suits your machine: filter grind for a pour-over filter and espresso grind for an espresso machine. Filter grind and percolator grind are not interchangeable.

The Colombian Roast is a dark roast from Colombia. That dark roasting brings out the caramel aroma nicely, both in espresso and in milk-based coffee.

If you drink the coffee black, you will taste notes of honey, red fruit and orange.

Sunleaf English Blend is a classic blend of 100 percent black tea, without added herbs or flavourings.

The taste is full and aromatic and suits any moment of the day. Black tea is also the type you can drink with a dash of milk without any problem.

We recommend about 2 grams of loose leaf tea per cup, which is roughly a level teaspoon. Use water at around 80 degrees and let the tea steep for 2 to 3 minutes. Boiling water makes green tea bitter, so let your kettle cool down for a moment. Because this is loose leaf tea, you need a tea strainer, a tea filter or tea tongs.

Coffee mainly loses its aroma through oxygen, light and moisture. With this clip you fold the bag shut and keep out as much air as possible. It makes the biggest difference with ground coffee, because that loses aroma faster than whole beans. Store the closed bag cool, dry and dark, and not in the fridge.

For a cup of matcha, allow around 1.5 to 2 grams of powder, which is about a teaspoon. So with the 50 grams from this starter set you can make around 25 to 33 cups.

The matcha bowl of the Aurora set has a diameter of about 13 cm and a height of about 7 cm. That is plenty of room to whisk with the bamboo whisk without spilling.

This espresso blend has intensity 9 on our scale and therefore counts as very powerful. In the taste you will recognise chocolatey, spicy and earthy notes, with an intense aroma and fresh citrus notes. It comes into its own as an espresso and as a lungo, and is bold enough to cut through the milk in a cappuccino.

The percentage shows how much of the bar consists of cocoa components, in this case cocoa beans and cocoa butter together making up 70 percent. The rest is mainly cane sugar, topped up with orange extract. The higher the cocoa percentage, the less sugar and the stronger the chocolate flavour. At 70 percent this bar sits in the range where the cocoa is clearly at the front, while enough sweetness is left to let the orange come through well.
