Many coffee lovers would like a little less caffeine, but don't want to settle for less flavour. A fully decaffeinated coffee then feels like a step too far. That is why we created Café du Jour 100% Arabica Low Caffeine. This coffee contains roughly half the caffeine of a regular 100% arabica coffee. Ideal if you want to cut down on caffeine without giving up your daily coffee moments.

What is low caffeine coffee?

Low caffeine coffee (also called half caf) is a blend of regular coffee beans and decaffeinated coffee beans. Thanks to that combination, every cup contains about 50% less caffeine than a regular 100% arabica coffee, while you keep the full flavour. Please note: this is not a caffeine-free coffee. Flavour profile

The medium-dark roast makes this coffee slightly fuller and more chocolatey than a medium roast, but without the bitter notes of a very dark roast.

Naturally decaffeinated using the CO2 method

The decaf beans in this blend are decaffeinated using the natural CO2 method, without chemicals. The green beans are first soaked in water, causing them to swell and release the caffeine. The caffeine is then extracted from the beans with carbon dioxide (CO2) under high pressure and at a low temperature. Finally, the beans are dried, during which the CO2 evaporates completely. This way the flavour of the coffee is optimally preserved.

Suitable for every brewing method

Café du Jour 100% Arabica Low Caffeine is available as whole coffee beans or freshly ground coffee. It is suitable for an espresso machine, bean-to-cup machine, filter coffee, French press and cappuccino or latte macchiato.

Resealable coffee packaging

Whether you buy 250 grams, 500 grams or a kilo of Café du Jour coffee beans: they always come in a special resealable bag. The bag has a resealable edge, so you can always close the coffee airtight again. On the front of every bag there is a valve. It lets gases escape from the bag without outside air getting in. That keeps your coffee perfectly fresh.

The coffee beans of Café du Jour's own brand are roasted on a small scale by a specialist roast master. The beans are roasted and restocked every week, so the roast date is always recent. The roast date is printed on the label of the packaging.
