What is the best way to store freshly roasted coffee at home?
Fresh coffee is best stored away from moisture, heat, and odors, in an airtight container at room temperature. If you want to keep the beans for longer than a few weeks to months, freezing is also an option, provided the packaging is completely airtight to prevent moisture. We do not recommend the refrigerator, as coffee absorbs odors, which can negatively affect the taste.
For ground coffee, it is more difficult to keep it fresh; we recommend storing ground coffee for no longer than 14 days after receipt in an airtight container at room temperature.
Although coffee beans are technically shelf-stable for longer (1 to 2 years), we advise consuming fresh coffee within 2 to 3 months for the best flavor experience.
