FAQ
Customer Questions
What kind of coffee is the Café du Jour Winterkoffie and what does it taste like?

The Winterkoffie is a warm, full blend with beans from Central and South America and from Indonesia.

It is a medium roast that drinks smoothly and has just enough bite for the morning. The blend is deliberately versatile, so whether you make espresso or filter coffee, it feels at home in both preparations.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee with the Café du Jour Winterkoffie?

You choose that yourself when ordering. You set the coffee variant and the size, with a choice of 250 grams, 500 grams and 1 kilo.

If you have a bean to cup machine, choose whole beans, because that machine grinds for itself. If you use the ground coffee chute of a Jura, choose the percolator grind. For a pour over filter such as a V60, Melitta or Moccamaster you choose the filter grind and for an espresso machine the espresso grind.

Filter grind and percolator grind are not interchangeable, so check carefully which machine you use.

How fresh is the Café du Jour Winterkoffie and where is the roast date shown?

The coffee beans of our own brand are roasted on a small scale and every week by a specialist roast master, so the roast date is always recent. That date is on the label of the pack.

Freshly roasted beans still need five to seven days of degassing before they are at their best. On the front of the bag there is a valve that lets those gases escape without letting air in, which is why the bag does not feel vacuum sealed.

Is the Café du Jour Winterkoffie suitable for my bean to cup machine?

Yes. Choose the whole bean variant in that case, because a bean to cup machine grinds for itself.

The Winterkoffie is medium roasted and therefore not an extremely dark, oily bean. That is exactly what you want for bean to cup machines whose grinder is sensitive to oil on the bean, as with many Jura and Melitta models.

If your machine also has a ground coffee chute, order a second bag in the percolator grind.

How do I store the Winterkoffie from Café du Jour after opening?

Every bag of Café du Jour coffee has a resealable edge, so you can close the coffee airtight again after use.

Store the bag in a cool, dark and dry place, for example in a closed kitchen cupboard. Do not put coffee in the fridge, because it attracts moisture and odours there.

Ground coffee loses its aroma faster than whole beans, so if you buy ground coffee, keep a slightly smaller stock.
