How much coffee can I brew at once with the Chemex® Classic Coffee Maker - 6 cup?

With this Chemex 6-cup, you can brew up to approximately 6 cups of coffee at a time, which is equivalent to about 900 ml. Ideal if you have several guests or want to make extra coffee in one go.

How do I get the best flavour from my Chemex? What coffee to water ratio do you recommend?

For the most delicious, full coffee flavour, we recommend a ratio of 1 part ground coffee to 15 to 16 parts water (for example, 35 grams of coffee to 500 ml of water). Feel free to experiment to achieve your perfect taste, as the right balance varies depending on the bean and personal preference.

Does the taste of the coffee change if I reheat or store it?

The Chemex is made from non-porous borosilicate glass and does not absorb odours or flavours. You can cover your coffee and store it chilled to reheat later, without losing any flavour.

Do I need to use special filters for this Chemex?

Yes, we recommend using the original Chemex Bonded filters with this coffee maker. These specially designed filters fit perfectly and ensure your coffee remains free from sediment and bitter flavours.

Can the Chemex® go in the dishwasher?

The glass carafe of the Chemex® can, in principle, be placed in the dishwasher. Make sure to remove the wooden collar and the leather tie before placing it in the dishwasher. However, for a longer lifespan, we recommend hand washing.
