Passalacqua was founded in '48 during the post-war years, amidst a society full of unrest and significant poverty. Grandfather Samuel worked as a sales representative to support his family, while his three sons, Biagio, Yor Armando, and Emilio, young and full of enthusiasm, courageously tackled the post-war labour shortage. Then, an opportunity arose: purchasing an old machine that could roast 5 kg of coffee every 20 minutes, which marked the beginning of a new venture: Passalacqua.

FAQ
Customer Questions
Is the Passalacqua Mexico certified organic?

No. Passalacqua has several blends and according to our product data the Mexico does not have organic certification. Our site previously carried a text suggesting that all Passalacqua coffee is organic; that was not correct and that text has been amended.

If you are looking for certified organic coffee, take a look at our organic coffee beans. There you will find the products that carry the official BIO label.

Which coffee varieties are in the Passalacqua Mexico?

The Mexico is a 100 percent arabica blend made up of eight different arabica varieties. So it contains no robusta.

The blend is roasted in Italy in the characteristic southern Italian style, which makes it balanced and intense.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee with the Passalacqua Mexico?

You receive whole coffee beans in a 1 kilo pack.

If you want to use the coffee in a filter machine or French press, grind the beans yourself and match the grind size to your equipment: filter grind for a filter brewer, coarser for a French press and fine for espresso.

Which coffee machine is the Passalacqua Mexico suitable for?

According to our product data the Mexico is suitable for espresso, filter coffee and cappuccino. These are whole beans, so you can use them straight in a bean to cup machine or in a separate coffee grinder.

The roast is medium, which means the bean releases relatively little oil. For a double espresso you count on roughly 16 to 20 grams of ground coffee.

What does the Passalacqua Mexico taste like?

The Mexico is balanced and intense, with an intensity of 8 on a scale of 10. What stands out is the unexpected sweetness for an Italian blend.

In the taste you recognise fruit with notes of caramel, hazelnuts and chocolate. That is why this coffee also appeals to people who like a sweeter cup.
