Details

What is Landhaus Decaf?

Landhaus Decaf is finely ground coffee made for anyone who wants the full flavour of filter coffee without the caffeine. The roast gives a rounded, lightly chocolatey aroma that comes very close to a classic filter coffee, so you do not have to compromise on taste.

Landhaus Decaf comes in a 500-gram pack and is already finely ground. It is suitable for filter coffee machines and percolators.

Flavour profile

  • Rounded, balanced flavour
  • Lightly chocolatey note
  • Pleasantly mild, without bitterness
  • Full body, like regular filter coffee

Who is it for?

This decaffeinated coffee is a good choice for many people. Whether you want a cup in the evening without disturbing your sleep, or you are cutting down on caffeine for other reasons, Landhaus Decaf fits into your day.

Suitable for

  • People who want coffee in the evening
  • Anyone deliberately reducing caffeine
  • Anyone who wants to avoid caffeine altogether
  • Anyone keeping an eye on their caffeine intake
  • Everyone who loves the taste of coffee but not the caffeine

Decaffeinated coffee still contains small amounts of caffeine, so it is not entirely caffeine free. For health questions, always speak to your doctor.

How do you use Landhaus Decaf?

The coffee is finely ground and ready to use, so you need no grinder. The grind is matched to brewing in filter coffee machines and percolators.

Brewing instructions

  1. Put a coffee filter in your filter machine or percolator.
  2. Add the amount of ground coffee you want to the filter.
  3. Fill the tank with fresh, cold water.
  4. Start the machine and wait until the coffee has run through.
  5. Enjoy your cup, evening included.

As a rule of thumb, use around 7 to 10 grams of ground coffee per 150 ml of water, then adjust to your own taste.

FAQ
Customer Questions
How much caffeine is left in Landhaus Entkoffeiniert?

Within the European Union, roasted coffee may only be called decaffeinated if the caffeine content stays below 0.1% of the dry matter. In practice that comes down to a few milligrams per cup, compared with roughly 80 to 100 milligrams in a normal cup of filter coffee.

So it is not quite zero, but the difference is so great that most people can enjoy a cup in the evening without any trouble.

Does decaffeinated coffee taste different from regular coffee?

Caffeine itself contributes only a little to the flavour, mainly a slight bitterness. Decaffeination also takes place before roasting, after which the beans are roasted in the usual way. As a result, most of the aroma is simply retained.

Landhaus Entkoffeiniert keeps the full, rounded taste of ordinary filter coffee, with a lightly chocolatey note. Put it next to the caffeinated version and the difference is small.

Which coffee machines is Landhaus Entkoffeiniert suitable for?

Landhaus Entkoffeiniert has a filter grind, which makes it ideal for the classic filter coffee machine and for percolators. Simply spoon the coffee into a paper or permanent filter and let the machine do the rest.

It is too coarse for an espresso machine: the water runs through too quickly and the coffee ends up thin and sour. It does work in a cafetière (French press), but because the grind is relatively fine you will get more sediment in your cup. In that case, brew it for a little less time and pour carefully.

How many cups will I get from 500 grams and how should I store the coffee?

At the usual 6 to 7 grams per 125 ml cup, 500 grams gives you roughly 70 to 80 cups, or around ten full jugs.

Ground coffee loses its aroma through air, light, moisture and heat. Seal the bag properly after use or tip the coffee into an airtight tin and keep it in a dark cupboard. The fridge is not a good spot: there coffee takes on moisture and smells. Once opened, it tastes best within two to four weeks.
