With this spice mix, you can make delicious mulled wine in no time. Fun and delicious to drink on the sofa with your partner on a cold winter day or to share with friends and family at winter parties.
How do you do it? Well you have it peaked in a few minutes:
Heat red wine (don't let it boil) and add about 2 tablespoons of herbs (possibly in a tea filter) per 0.75 to 1 litre of wine. Let steep to taste. This mix of gluhwein herbs consists of star anise, cloves, orange peel (2 kinds), pieces of real Ceylon cinnamon and aniseed. Add (cane) sugar, fresh lemon or orange to taste.
In this way, you make your own unique gluhwein, delicious on winter and Christmas evenings!

This spice mix for mulled wine consists of cloves, star anise, cinnamon, sweet and bitter orange peel and aniseed. This is after an authentic German recipe. All you have to do with this mix is heat red wine and add 2 tablespoons of spices. Let steep to taste.
Glühwein is especially popular in central Europe but is quickly gaining ground in the rest of Europe. It is especially popular in the winter months and around Christmas.
- Use a bottle (approx. 75 cl) of red wine (may be private label) and heat gently in a pan (do not boil!)
- Add 2 tablespoons of mulled wine spices. If you don't want the herbs loose add them to a spice or tea egg.
- Soak for at least 5 minutes in the hot, non-boiling red wine
- If necessary, add sugar to taste
