Dallmayr prodomo - ground coffee - 500 grams

Dallmayr prodomo ground coffee is Dallmayr's 100% arabica blend from Munich, ready-ground for filter coffee and packed in 500 g. It is the same prodomo blend as the whole beans: highland coffees from Asia, Africa and South and Central America, with arabica from the fertile provinces of Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, as the main flavour carrier. Dallmayr has made prodomo since 1964.

Which brewing methods suit prodomo ground coffee

Dallmayr prodomo ground coffee is a filter grind, and Dallmayr names three ways to brew it: the filter coffee machine, the hand filter and the French press. For the hand filter in general, Dallmayr advises 7 to 12 g of medium-fine ground coffee per cup and water just above 90 °C. The filter grind is not intended for espresso machines, a moka pot or a bean-to-cup machine; for those, choose prodomo beans instead. Other filter blends are in our filter ground coffee range.

Specially refined: fewer bitter substances, full caffeine

The pack carries the word spezialveredelt. Dallmayr refines the coffee in a special, gentle way that removes many bitter substances. The caffeine stays fully intact, so prodomo is not a decaffeinated coffee but a regular coffee with fewer bitter substances. Dallmayr then gives the beans a medium roast with its own full-aroma roast, which gives prodomo its recognisable spicy, aromatic flavour. Roast, acidity and strength

Dallmayr prints three values on the pack, each on a scale of 5: roast 3 out of 5, acidity 3 out of 5 and strength 4 out of 5. On the Café du Jour intensity scale, prodomo ground comes out at 8 out of 13: a full-bodied but balanced cup.

Vacuum-packed and keeping ground prodomo fresh

Dallmayr vacuum-packs prodomo immediately after grinding, so an unopened pack should feel hard. Ground coffee loses its aroma faster than whole beans once the pack is open. Keep an opened pack well closed, cool and dry, preferably in the original packaging and away from strong-smelling food.

Origin and sustainability

prodomo is made in Germany using green coffee from outside the EU. Dallmayr sources it within its Via Verde sustainability programme, and the pack uses FSC-certified paper.
