Blending coffee beans yourself

As soon as you place an order from this page, a bell will ring in the Café du jour roastery and the coffee beans will be prepared. The coffee beans have been roasted at most four weeks ago at approximately city to full city roast and are blended afterwards to the options you specify below

Extra fresh

We note the roast date on every pack, which in many cases is the same week you order. The beans we use are never older than four weeks. In principle, the coffee will keep for about a year. In any case, you are usually safe in terms of taste if you drink the coffee within two months.

Is this for me?

Yes, this is at least the way you should have tried coffee at least once. Other pre-packaged coffees lie in a warehouse for days or sometimes months before they go into your coffee machine at home. These beans are guaranteed to be roasted just a few hours before delivery to your home. Should you have never tried such fresh beans before, a world will open up for you.

Which coffee beans can I choose?

We have preselected a number of bean varieties for you to choose from. We recommend you choose one or two arabica varieties and optionally add the robusta. If you select robusta in addition to arabica, we will mix the desired amount of robusta into the coffee blend. This gives the blend a slightly more powerful flavour. A word of advice for choice stress: take either the Arabica Brazil Santos as a single bean or combine it with the Indonesia Robusta. Use that as the base and experiment with brewing it. If you don't get it powerful, fruity, spicy or whatever enough you can adjust your choice from there when you next order. For example, you can mix in our Guatemala for an extra acidity, the Ethiopia Lekempti for a more spicy flavour or the Colombia for a chocolatey flavour.

What you end up liking is personal but remember that what doesn't go down well in, say, a meal, often goes down a bit with coffee too. We don't like to mix a rather sour coffee bean (Guatemala) with a spicy coffee bean (Ethiopia). A mild sweet coffee bean (Brazil Santos) blends well with a slightly sour coffee bean (Guatemala) and to give the mild a bit more spice, add robusta (10 - 30%) as desired. Don't hesitate too long but remember what the choice was so you can keep playing with the flavour in the future. By the way, we write your choice on the packaging, handy for the roaster and for yourself ;-).

What roast are the beans?

The beans are roasted between city and full city. The beans are not greasy and can therefore also be used in a fully automatic coffee machine

I want something special, is that possible?

In most cases, yes. You can leave additional comments in the comments field at the roaster. We often find it useful if you leave a phone number so that we can reach you should the roaster have a question about your special request. An example of a request that comes in regularly is whether we can include a gift card. No problem, just let us know for which occasion and who the lucky recipient is. We will then make it extra special to give as a gift, at no extra cost of course, as you are used to. People also occasionally want a name on the packaging. We can also arrange this by means of a sticker. In any case, try to be as clear as possible.

Resealable coffee packaging

Café du Jour beans always come in a special resealable packaging. The coffee bag has a special resealable rim so that you can always reseal the coffee airtight. On the front of each bag is a valve, this allows gases and air to escape from the bag without allowing air from outside to flow back into the bag. This way, we do everything we can to preserve the optimal freshness of your coffee!
