This 500-gram coffee bean cooler is designed to cool coffee beans quickly after roasting. The cooling process after roasting is crucial; if the beans aren't cooled to room temperature swiftly, the roasting can continue due to residual heat. Freshly roasted coffee beans need to rest for 3 to 4 days to allow their full flavours to develop.

Perfect to use with, for example, the Gene Café CBR 101 roaster.

FAQ
Customer Questions
How many coffee beans fit in this 500 gram coffee bean cooler?

The maximum capacity is 500 grams. For faster cooling we recommend filling the cooler with around 400 grams of beans.

If you roast larger batches, cool the beans in two goes. An overfilled cooler has its heat blown away less quickly.

What is the difference between this 500 gram coffee bean cooler and the Gene Cafe CBC101 cooler?

This cooler is an unbranded model, the CBC101 is the cooler from the Gene Cafe brand. In practice they do the same job: both cool up to 500 grams of roasted beans, with around 400 grams as the recommended load.

Our customer service describes this 500 gram cooler as the more basic of the two.

Why do you need to cool coffee beans after roasting?

After roasting there is a lot of heat in the beans. If you do not cool them down to room temperature quickly, the roasting process simply carries on through the radiant heat between the beans and they become darker than intended.

This cooler blows the heat out quickly with a motor running at 3000 revolutions per minute, so you keep the roast profile you had in mind.

What is supplied with this coffee bean cooler and what are the specifications?

On delivery you get the cooler, a steel mesh, a fine mesh and a manual.

The cooler runs on 230V (50/60 Hz) and uses 45 watts. The diameter is 205 mm and the height 250 mm. The design is low noise, so the cooling is not disturbingly loud.

How long do freshly roasted coffee beans need to rest after cooling?

Freshly roasted coffee beans need to rest for 3 to 4 days after cooling. Only after that can the full flavours develop.

During that period, store the beans cool, dark and well sealed. Use a bag or tin that lets the released gases escape, because freshly roasted coffee continues to degas.
