Are the beans in the Lazarro Bonen Duo suitable for a bean to cup machine?

Yes, both bags contain whole beans and are suitable for espresso machines, bean to cup machines and filter coffee makers. The Barista Caffè Crema is lightly roasted, which makes it the safest choice for a bean to cup machine.

The Espresso Dark Roast is darkly roasted. Our customer service often explains that darkly roasted beans can be a little more oily, which means coffee grounds build up more easily in the machine with prolonged use. Occasional use is normally not a problem, but if you run dark beans regularly, stick closely to the cleaning schedule of your machine.

What is the difference between Lazarro Espresso Dark Roast and Lazarro Barista Caffè Crema?

The Lazarro Espresso Dark Roast is a darkly roasted blend of arabica and robusta beans. It is strong and aromatic and lends itself well to an intense espresso or a caffè lungo, but also to cappuccino and latte macchiato.

The Lazarro Barista Caffè Crema is also a blend of arabica and robusta, but more lightly roasted. It is milder in taste with notes of chocolate and spices and gives a nice layer of crema. It is intended for cappuccino, latte and lungo. In short: Dark Roast for strong and intense, Caffè Crema for softer and creamier.

Does the Lazarro Bonen Duo contain robusta beans?

Yes, both the Espresso Dark Roast and the Barista Caffè Crema are a blend of arabica and robusta beans. Lazarro does not state the exact percentages.

Robusta gives extra body, a firmer crema and a spicier character. If you are looking for a coffee without robusta, take a look at a 100% arabica in our range.

How do you store the coffee beans from the Lazarro Bonen Duo?

Store the beans cool, dark and well sealed, for example in the original bag with the closure shut or in an airtight storage container. Do not put them in the fridge: moisture and odours actually make the flavour deteriorate.

Unopened, coffee beans stay good for about a year, but they taste best within a few months. Because the duo consists of two kilos, it is best to leave the bag you are not using closed until you are ready for it.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee with the Lazarro Bonen Duo?

The Lazarro Bonen Duo consists of two 1 kilo bags of whole coffee beans: Espresso Dark Roast and Barista Caffè Crema. Beans versus ground is the most common mistake when ordering, so it is worth checking whether your machine can grind whole beans.

The composition of this duo is fixed and cannot be changed. If you only want one of the two, both types are also available separately per kilo.
