Are the dark roasted Kimbo beans from this trial pack suitable for my bean to cup machine?

You can, but do keep the following in mind. The three blends in this pack are dark roasted, and a dark roast gives an oilier, shinier bean surface. In a bean to cup machine that oil can build up over the long term in the grinder and the brewing unit.

Customers with a Jura or a comparable bean to cup machine ask us this question regularly, including specifically about the Kimbo dark roasts. Our advice: with regular maintenance of your machine this does not have to be a problem, and a single bag causes no harm under normal circumstances. If you would rather avoid oily beans altogether, the Kimbo trial pack Mild en Aromatisch with 100% Arabica is the better choice.

Which coffees are in the Kimbo trial pack Stevig en Intens?

This pack contains three intense Kimbo blends: Barista Espresso Napoletano, Espresso Bar Extreme and Prestige. Of each blend you get 1 kilo of coffee beans, 3 kilos in total.

The Napoletano is the dark roasted original from Naples, full and strong. The Espresso Bar Extreme is extra intense with powerful bitter notes. The Prestige is a top blend with a deep body made to a traditional Neapolitan recipe.

Do I get whole beans or ground coffee in the Kimbo tasting pack Stevig and Intens?

You get whole coffee beans, 3 x 1 kilo. The pack is meant for espresso machines with a built-in grinder.

If you use a machine that works with ground coffee, you need a coffee grinder and you grind to espresso grind. Espresso grind and filter grind are not interchangeable, so check which grind your machine needs.

What can I do if this Kimbo coffee is too bitter for me?

These blends are deliberately dark and full bodied, so a bittersweet note is part of the deal. If that is too much for you, grind a little coarser or let your espresso run through for a shorter time. Both adjustments noticeably reduce the bitter notes.

If it stays too intense, this flavour profile probably does not suit you. The Kimbo tasting pack Mild and Aromatic with 100% Arabica is then the more logical choice.

What is the difference with the Kimbo tasting pack Mild and Aromatic?

This pack brings together the darkest, most intense Kimbo blends: full, bittersweet and strong, in Neapolitan style, with a thick crema and a long finish. The Mild and Aromatic pack contains soft 100% Arabica blends that are low in bitterness and fruity aromatic.

In short: choose Strong and Intense if you like power and bite, and Mild and Aromatic if you are looking for subtle flavour nuances and a soft crema.
