The lid of my Brita Marella keeps moving, how do I fix it?

Press the lid down firmly all the way around until you feel it click into place. The Marella has a click-on lid with a flip-top filling flap that clamps onto the rim of the jug, so if it keeps sliding it is usually only fixed on one side.Put the jug on the worktop, place the lid straight on top so the spout and the filling flap line up, then press down along the whole edge. Got a cartridge in? Check that it is pushed all the way into the funnel, because a cartridge sitting too high lifts the lid. If the lid still will not stay put, just get in touch with us.

Why does the indicator keep flashing after I replaced the filter?

In almost every case it is because the BRITA Memo still needs to be restarted. The Memo in the lid counts down four weeks and only begins a new cycle once you reset it after fitting a fresh cartridge. Skip that step and it simply keeps showing the replacement signal.Reset the Memo the way the manual supplied with your Brita Marella describes, because the exact action depends on the version of the indicator. Then check that the new MAXTRA+ cartridge sits straight and all the way down in the funnel. If the indicator still flashes or stops responding altogether, the battery in the Memo has most likely run out. Let us know and we will help you sort it out.

How often should I replace the MAXTRA+ cartridge in the Brita Marella?

Plan on a fresh cartridge every four weeks. The BRITA Memo in the lid counts that period down for you and gives a signal as soon as the cartridge is due for replacement, so you do not have to keep track yourself.

If you use the jug heavily or live in a hard water area, you may notice the difference in taste slightly sooner. Rinse a new MAXTRA+ cartridge briefly under cold running water before fitting it and discard the first two jugs of filtered water, as BRITA advises. Then restart the Memo so the counter runs in step with your fresh cartridge again.

Is the Brita Marella water filter jug dishwasher safe?

The jug itself is dishwasher safe, the lid is not. Take the lid and the cartridge out before you put the Marella in the machine, otherwise you will damage the BRITA Memo indicator.

Clean the lid with warm water and a little mild washing-up liquid, then rinse it well. Do that now and then together with the funnel, so no limescale ring builds up. Avoid scouring pads and aggressive cleaners, because they leave scratches on the plastic. Let every part dry properly before you fit a new cartridge.

Which filter cartridges fit the Brita Marella?

The Brita Marella takes BRITA MAXTRA+ filter cartridges, and one is included in the box. Thanks to PerfectFit technology the cartridge seals neatly against the funnel, so all of the water really does pass through the filter.

According to BRITA, the newer MAXTRA PRO cartridges also fit jugs made for MAXTRA+, so you can switch over without worrying. Cartridges from other jug systems do not fit. The jug holds 2.4 litres in total, of which 1.4 litres is filtered water, so one cartridge gets you a long way for coffee, tea and simply a nice glass of water.
