The Brita Marella XL has a total capacity of 3.5 litres, of which 2 litres is filtered water. The upper reservoir holds the water that has not been filtered yet, which slowly passes down through the filter cartridge. Thanks to that generous capacity you need to refill less often than with a standard water filter jug.

Yes, this water filter jug comes with one MAXTRA+ filter cartridge. That lets you start filtering straight away. After that you replace the cartridge with a new MAXTRA+ filter.

We advise replacing the MAXTRA+ filter cartridge about every four weeks. The BRITA Memo in the lid keeps track of that period for you and shows when it is time. If you use the jug intensively or have very hard water, changing it a little sooner can be sensible.

The MAXTRA+ cartridge reduces limescale, chlorine and other impurities that affect the taste and smell of tap water. As a result, coffee and tea taste purer and you get less limescale build-up in your kettle and coffee maker. Thanks to the PerfectFit technology, all the water is guaranteed to run through the filter and not past it.

The jug is dishwasher safe, apart from the lid. Wash the lid by hand, so that the BRITA Memo and the filling flap stay intact. Take the filter cartridge out before you put the jug in the dishwasher.
