Saloy, a community of about 2,100 residents, is located on the outskirts of the city of Davao on the southern island of Mindanao. While Davao once flourished as the heart of cocoa production, Saloy is far from the hustle and bustle, nestled in the mountainous landscape surrounded by lush tropical rainforest.
