Tea ball / tea infuser (4.5cm)

Allow about 2 grams of loose tea per cup, roughly a level teaspoon. The 4.5 cm diameter gives the leaves plenty of room to open up, even in a large mug. So fill the tea ball no more than halfway, because tea that is pressed together releases less aroma and flavour.

Yes. This tea infuser is made of stainless steel with a fine mesh, so smaller tea particles are held back as well. It works perfectly for broken leaf, rooibos and herbal blends. Only powder-fine tea such as matcha does not belong in a filter, you whisk that straight into the water.

Preferably empty the tea ball right after use and rinse it under warm running water, so no wet leaves are left inside. Then leave it open to dry. If the mesh develops a brown haze or limescale over time, soak the tea ball for a while in water with cleaning vinegar and rinse it well.

You can. Fill the tea ball as you would for a hot cup and hang it in a jug of cold water in the fridge. Depending on the type of tea and how strong you want it, you let the tea steep for 4 to 12 hours. Take the tea ball out afterwards, otherwise the flavour will still become too strong.
