Senseo Decaf - coffee pods - 48 pieces

These are standard round Senseo pods, so they fit the normal pod holders of a Senseo machine. For one cup you put one pod in the 1 cup holder, for two cups you use the 2 cup holder with two pods.

Place the pod in the holder with the domed side facing down and gently flatten the ground coffee. That way the water runs through evenly and you do not get half a cup.

For a normal cup you use one pod in the 1 cup pod holder. If you want two cups at once or a large mug, use the 2 cup holder with two pods.

Making a large mug with one pod is possible, but the coffee will be watery because the same amount of coffee is spread over more water.

So this pack of 48 pods gives you about 48 normal cups or 24 double ones.

These pods are filled with decaffeinated Arabica and Robusta beans, but completely zero caffeine does not exist. In the EU, roasted decaffeinated coffee may contain a maximum of 0.1 percent caffeine, so a small residual amount remains.

In practice that is a fraction of what is in regular coffee, which makes these pods suitable for later in the day as well. If you are very sensitive to caffeine, do take that small remainder into account.

A used coffee pod consists of coffee grounds and a paper filter cloth and may go in the food and garden waste in the Netherlands.

The bag the pods come in does not belong there; you throw it away according to your local council's rules for plastic or residual waste. If in doubt, check your council's waste guide.

Close the bag well after use or put the pods in an airtight tin, and store them cool, dark and dry. Ground coffee in a pod loses its aroma faster than whole beans, so preferably use up an opened pack within a few weeks.

Do not store the pods in the fridge: they take on moisture and odours there, and you taste that in your cup.
