DVA water softener 5 / 8 / 12 litres: regenerating and rinsing
Regenerating and rinsing a DVA water softener is easy and takes about 30 minutes. This is a simplified explanation that shows the process a little more clearly than the manual does.

Putting the transparent tubes in the right place During normal use, both taps point to the left. Before you do anything with the tubes, it is best to switch off the espresso machine that is connected to the water softener. Next, put the upper transparent tube into a large empty plastic bottle and the lower transparent tube into the drain. |

Draining the water softener With the upper tube in the bottle and the lower tube in the drain, turn both taps half a turn so they point to the right. Water should now come out of both tubes. |

Adding regeneration salt (softener salt) to the water softener Now remove the cap on top and add the recommended amount of regeneration salt (softener salt). The amount depends on your water consumption and the hardness of the water. At a water hardness of 10 °dH:

Rinsing the water softener Time to rinse the unit. Turn the upper blue tap back so it points to the left. Keep the lower tube in the drain, because the rinse water comes out of this end. Rinsing may take a while, depending on the amount of softener salt you added and the type of water softener. To check whether rinsing is complete, taste a drop of the water coming out of the lower tube. If it still tastes salty, keep rinsing. |

Putting the water softener back into operation Once the water no longer tastes salty, turn the lower tube back to the right. The water softener is now ready to use again. |
