Beautiful cocoa beans are sourced from the Lamas rainforest, creating an exceptional chocolate with complex notes of floral and tangy fruit. In the northern Peru region of San Martin, plantations are scattered across the rich tropical landscape. This area is a sanctuary for endangered species, protected within Río Abiseo National Park and Cordillera Azul National Park. The crystal-clear lakes, like Lago Lindo and Lago Azul, are famous for their unspoiled waters. The humidity of the Lamas rainforest provides perfect conditions for cocoa cultivation. These organically grown beans result in a superior chocolate with intricate floral and tangy fruit flavors. About Oro Verde: This cooperative was established by fifty-six coffee farmers from the Lamas province in the San Martin region on 7 December 1999. By 2020, the cooperative had grown to include 1,203 members. It bridges the two cultures of the high Andes and the dense Amazon rainforests. Three-quarters of the farmers are from the indigenous Chanca Lamista, Quechua, or Kichwa communities of Lamas, while the remaining members are migrants. Coffee and cocoa are the primary crops. Since 2010, the cooperative has been working to restore degraded areas with the motto "produce with happiness." Two million indigenous trees have been planted, enhancing conditions for local flora and fauna.
