The monodoses are separately packaged E.S.E. servings that guarantee better freshness. Each E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) serving contains one portion of ground illy blend: just the right amount of perfectly pressed coffee grind, protected by two layers of filter paper. The system was developed in the 1970s and has been put to the test, tested and judged perfect many times since. E.S.E. servings can only be used in appliances that function with the E.S.E. system.
