This mulled wine mix contains star anise, cloves, two types of orange peel, pieces of genuine Ceylon cinnamon, and aniseed. Mulled wine, or Glühwein, is especially popular in Central Europe but is rapidly becoming a favourite across the rest of Europe. It's particularly enjoyed during the winter months and around Christmas time.
- Use a bottle (around 75 cl) of red wine (you can use a private label) and gently heat it in a pan (make sure it doesn’t boil!)
- Add 2 tablespoons of the mulled wine spice mix. If you prefer not to have loose herbs, place them in a spice or tea infuser.
- Let it soak in the warm, non-boiling red wine for at least 5 minutes
