Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee comes from the Arabica Typica coffee plant and is renowned for its mild, creamy flavour with no bitterness. Approximately 80% of this coffee is exported to Japan, and the famous liqueur Tia Maria is made using these special beans. These top-quality beans are sourced from the Chatsworth Estate, nestled on the scenic slopes of the renowned Blue Mountains. The climate in this area offers cool temperatures, and the Caribbean winds bring thick fog, ample precipitation, and abundant clouds—ideal conditions for cultivating distinctive Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. The beans are roasted to a medium level. We roast these beans in very small batches after an order is placed, so there might be a slight delay of a few days before your order is shipped. This coffee boasts a rich, creamy, milky, and chocolatey flavour with minimal bitterness.

Chatsworth - Gold Cup Estates

The name "Chatsworth" originates from a colonial family, while Jamaica's path to independence dates back to the late 1700s. This coffee, hand-picked with care, thrives in the southeastern Blue Mountain region. The farm is dedicated to producing only the finest, large, bold beans for Grade 1 and employs highly efficient, top-quality farming techniques. After pulping and drying, the coffee is rested for eight to twelve weeks in specially designed silos made from durable Wolmanised Pine.

Thanks to these meticulous processing methods, each cup of coffee boasts a unique character. The Chatsworth Estate is a micro-lot farm within Gold Cup Estates, a renowned producer of premium Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee grades.

FAQ
Customer Questions
Is the Jamaican Blue Mountain №1 roasted fresh?

Yes. We roast this coffee in very small batches only once your order has come in, with a medium roast. That means it can take a few days before the bag is ready to ship.

Freshly roasted beans still need five to seven days to degas. If you brew the coffee straight after you receive it, the taste can still be a little wild; after a few days the profile comes into better balance.

Is the Jamaican Blue Mountain №1 also available in a pack larger than 100 grams?

As standard we only sell this coffee in 100 grams. That has to do with the very limited batches in which we roast the Jamaican Blue Mountain №1.

If you want to buy more than three bags, we can have the coffee packed in a different size on request. Let our customer service know how many bags it concerns, and we will look at what is possible.

What does the Jamaican Blue Mountain №1 coffee taste like?

This coffee comes from the Arabica Typica coffee plant and is known for its mild, creamy character and the almost complete absence of bitterness. We describe the taste as rich, creamy, milky and chocolatey, with fruity notes and a hint of honey.

The beans come from the Chatsworth Estate on the mountain slopes of the Blue Mountains in Jamaica, at 915 to 1040 metres altitude, and are medium roasted.

Which brewing methods is the Jamaican Blue Mountain №1 suitable for?

According to the product details, this coffee works well for espresso, filter coffee and cappuccino. Because these are whole beans, you grind them yourself to suit the method you use: espresso grind for an espresso machine, filter grind for a pour-over filter or filter machine, and whole beans for a bean to cup machine.

As a guideline we use around 5 to 8 grams per cup for filter coffee and 16 to 20 grams for a double espresso. Given the small 100 gram pack, it is wise to get the grind right in one go and not experiment too much.

How do I best store the Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee beans?

Store the beans cool, dark and well sealed, preferably in the original bag or in an airtight tin. Oxygen, light and heat are the biggest drivers of flavour loss.

Do not put the beans in the fridge, because there they attract moisture and smells. Because this coffee is freshly roasted, the flavour comes into its own best in the first weeks after roasting.
