Hausbrandt's Superbar is the more refined take on the classic espresso blend, featuring a full-bodied flavour with a hint of acidity. Each sip transports you to a quaint 1950s coffee bar in the heart of an Italian city, where you've just arrived in your Fiat 500. Perfect for semi-automatic machines, but equally at home in a fully automatic one. If you're a fan of the original Hausbrandt, you'll love this version too.

Details
Hausbrandt is a coffee roaster hailing from the coffee paradise of Trieste, Italy. Since 1892, they've been crafting delicious, traditional Italian blends with great success. In the late 19th century, Hausbrandt gained rapid popularity thanks to a packaging method that was innovative for its time. The roasted coffee beans were packed into airtight metal tins directly at the roastery. Nowadays, their coffee comes in bags, but with prints that evoke the nostalgic charm associated with Hausbrandt.

FAQ
Customer Questions
What flavour and blend does the Caffè Hausbrandt Superbar have?

The Superbar is an Italian blend of arabica and robusta beans with a medium roast and an intensity of 8, classed by us as strong. We describe it as the slightly finer version of the original Hausbrandt espresso blend: a full body with a slightly noticeable acidity. In the taste you recognise chocolate and nutty notes. Customers looking for a classic Italian bar coffee often end up with this blend.

Is the Caffè Hausbrandt Superbar suitable for a bean to cup machine or a portafilter machine?

Both are possible. We think the Superbar is exceptionally well suited to a semi automatic machine with a portafilter, but it certainly does not look out of place in a bean to cup machine. These are whole beans with a medium roast, so not an extremely dark, oily bean that the grinder of a bean to cup machine can struggle with. Just keep the bean hopper and the brew group clean according to the manual of your machine.

Where does the Caffè Hausbrandt Superbar come from?

Hausbrandt is a coffee roaster from Trieste in Italy and has been making typically Italian blends there since 1892. The Superbar is roasted in Italy. The green beans in this blend come from Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia and India.

Can I grind the Hausbrandt Superbar beans myself for filter coffee or espresso?

Yes, you receive 1 kilo of whole beans, so you decide on the grind size yourself. For an espresso machine you grind fine (espresso grind), for a pour-over filter or a filter coffee maker you use a filter grind and for a percolator a coarser percolator grind. Filter grind and percolator grind are not interchangeable. With a bean to cup machine you do not have to do anything: it grinds the beans itself.

What is the best way to store the Caffè Hausbrandt Superbar coffee beans?

Store the bag cool, dark and well sealed, for example in a kitchen cupboard and not in the fridge. Unopened, roasted coffee stays good for about a year; it tastes best within about three months. Once you have opened the bag of 1 kilo, close it properly every time, because oxygen is the greatest enemy of the aroma.
